Ana Valente's story

Ana Valente Mazive B. was born in Gaza, is 52 years old, married and the mother of 12 children with ages between 6 and 34. Eight of them are boys and four are girls, the seven older ones are employed and the four younger ones are students. Besides her children she also takes care of a nephew who's an orphan.
Ana lost her father while she was still a baby, her mother remarried and left her to be taken care by her older brother, who didn't do a good job so she had to drop school and only finished first grade. When she was 10 years old, she ran away with a friend to Maputo and worked as a maid for five years, moving then to Namaacha in the border with Suazilandia where she got married to her husband who worked for Petromoc. After receiving some money she started raising chicks, activity that she has been performing for the past 10 years. She has between 200 and 300 chicks, and makes a $250 profit every month. From that money she's able to save between $35 and $60.
She is asking for a $475 loan to buy used clothes in South Africa to resell. This is her first loan with Huluvuku and Kiva and she's confident she'll be able to pay it back in no time, because besides her two businesses she also has the help of her husband. She dreams of building her own chicken raising farm.
