Serafina Ludys's story

Serafina Ludys M. V. is 42 years old. She lives in the Ciudadela 20 de Julio neighborhood in Barranquilla. She is married and has two children who are 16 and 14 years old. Her children's education is this admirable woman's greatest challenge. Both of them have illnesses that require specialists. She has a special needs son (next to her in the photo) and the other child has a skin disease. She is always watching over them; that is why in order to take care of them she works from her home with a small variety and refreshment store. She works all day, whenever the customer needs her. She hopes and prays with much faith for a miracle from God: their recovery.

She began her business in 1994 and this is her fourth loan from the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She has demonstrated her excellence in making payments according to schedule. She is applying for the amount of $2.000.000 to buy beverages, clothes, shoes and cosmetics and to fix her display case. She has various suppliers of her products, among them, magazine distributors, stores from downtown Baranquilla and the Cervecería Águila truck. This is a very important brewery of the Baranquilla tradition. She has a variety of clients, including neighbors, referrals, workers, friends and family. She maintains the business in the face of strong competition in her neighborhood with prompt and conscientious service. In addition, the three loans that she has received in the last two years has allowed her to buy a display case, to pay bills and to accredit the business for merchandise. In the future, she dreams of having a locale with a well outfitted store.
