A loan helped to buy more slippers and dishes to sell.

Christiana's story

Christiana is 48 years old and lives with her partner and five children. Four of her children are in school and one is working.

Christiana is a high school graduate. She runs a business Monday through Saturday where she sells slippers and dishes. She learned how to sell from her friend. For the past four years, she has been managing her sales without any problems. She uses a car to transport supplies to her business site.

She likes her business because it makes her fast money and she is proud because it helps to sustain her family.

To maintain her business, she applied for a loan through Kiva field partner, BRAC Liberia, to buy more slippers and dishes to sell in order to generate greater profits.

In the future, Christiana wants to build her house. She wishes to say "thanks" to BRAC and Kiva.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
