Mwanaidi K. is president of the Mapendo credit loan group, now in their 13th loan cycle. She is the one raising her hand on the picture. She is 42 years old, divorced, and mother of ten children, of which six are still going to school, and four no longer attend due to lack of resources for school costs. She is the sole support for her children as her husband has completely abandoned her.

She started her small business with her own funds, received from her husband before the divorce. For the past 23 years, she has been selling chickens to hotels, snack bars and restaurants in town. With the credit loan from Hekima MFI, she would like to increase her turnover by purchasing 45 chickens.

In the future she plans to diversify and develop other activities by getting supplies in large commercial centres such as Dubai, Kampala, etc. She thanks Hekima for the credit loans she has been granted without having any collateral, because they have allowed her to take care of her children’s needs.

Elle a commencé son petit commerce avec son fonds propre Reçu de son mari avant leur divorce. Son Busines est de fournir des poules aux hotels, snack bars et restaurants de la ville. il y a 23 ans qu’elle exerce cette activité de vente des poules. Avec le crédit de l’IMF Hekima, Elle souhaite augmenter son chiffre d’affaire en achetant 45 poules. Dans l’avenir, elle planifie de varier et de développer d’autres d’activités en s’approvisionnant dans de grands centres commerciaux comme Dubai, Kampala, etc.

HEKIMA is a microfinance institution headquartered in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), with branch offices in Goma and Bukavu. HEKIMA aims to contribute to the transformation of the economic, social, and spiritual lives of the economically active poor of the DRC. To this end, HEKIMA provides its clients with solidarity group loans to support income-generating activities. Despite ongoing instability and violence in its operating areas, HEKIMA continues to keep its doors open and provide credit and savings services for its over 90% female clientele.
