A loan of $5,000 helped a member 45 chickens.

Mapendo Group's story

Mwanaidi K. is president of the Mapendo credit loan group, now in their 13th loan cycle. She is the one raising her hand on the picture. She is 42 years old, divorced, and mother of ten children, of which six are still going to school, and four no longer attend due to lack of resources for school costs. She is the sole support for her children as her husband has completely abandoned her.

She started her small business with her own funds, received from her husband before the divorce. For the past 23 years, she has been selling chickens to hotels, snack bars and restaurants in town. With the credit loan from Hekima MFI, she would like to increase her turnover by purchasing 45 chickens.

In the future she plans to diversify and develop other activities by getting supplies in large commercial centres such as Dubai, Kampala, etc. She thanks Hekima for the credit loans she has been granted without having any collateral, because they have allowed her to take care of her children’s needs.

This group is made up of 14 members. On the picture, there are seven standing women, and seven men who are crouching.

In this group: Kyatokekwa , Sanganiro , Mugisho , Mabalayi , Bitondo , Kisongo , Yotemana, Mwanaidi , Hamisi , Mudumbi , Masupa , Mangaza, Zagabe, Riziki
