Christy's story

My parents taught me servant leadership through their actions. My dad took pride in serving as a Union leader and as a frequently called upon juror. My mom volunteered for our schools, Girl Scout troops and church, and took us to her blood donation appointments. Growing up with this much visibility to alteristic behaviors inspired me to become a social worker.

I devoted 20 years to the nonprofit sector before starting my purpose-driven business. My education, experience and the relationships built along the way prepared me well for this exciting, new journey.

My dream is to teach other laundromat owners how to incorporate customer-driven, social good elements into their locations too. Laundromats are natural, high-volume spaces that have the potential to serve hundreds of thousands of people a year.

This loan is special because:

It helps a female entrepreneur and second-time Kiva borrower leverage laundromats to create healthy, employed communities.
