Mr. Sorn Sok Village Bank Group's story

This village bank loan extends to seventeen people who are villagers in Krarng Roluos village in Kandal province. The group members will use their portion of the loan for many different purposes, and they have selected Mr. Sorn S., a village bank president, as the group leader for the loan.

Mr. Sorn S. and his wife, Mrs. Sor Oriem, are farmers who own 1 hectare of land to cultivate rice for supporting their family. In the rice field, they have some problems because the field has infertile soil and is far from irrigation system. Thus, in order to improve rice production, Mr. Sorn S. is seeking a loan to purchase fertilizer and gasoline. Through their farming, the couple supports five children, four of whom are seamstresses in a garment factory, while the fifth helps the parents with the farming.
