Angélica is 50 years old and lives with her husband with whom she has 4 children; only the oldest is independent. She is the treasurer of the rural savings co-op "Estrella D. Belen", a group that has worked with EDAPROSPO-PROPERIDAD for almost 3 years.

Angélica sells vegetables and spices in the market, although she has not always done this. She started off as a traveling salesperson selling candy, but her children were growing up and she needed money for their education and school supplies, and the money her husband earned in public transportation was not enough. Because of this she preferred to look for a place in the market where she could have her small business.

Angélica hopes to complete her cosmetology studies and finish building her house, so that later she can open a beauty salon in her own home.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
