María Q. is a member of the communal bank Mujeres en Expansión [Women in Expansion]. She lives in the major city of Cuenca, which has its Historic Center, its people, and its exquisite cuisine as tourist attractions. She is 48 years old, married, and has had 5 kids. Her first three are 29, 28, and 23 and are already married and living independently with their own families. Her other two children are 22 and 17 years old, they are single and live with her. They are students in the university and college respectively. Her husband works as a bookselling agent. Her greatest satisfaction is that she has her own home.

María has sold Omnilife products for four years. She is not very happy with her sales, as for days she has not sold anything. She runs through the city, going door to door to her customers. This requires much sacrifice. She is in her fourth cycle working with her communal bank. With her new loan she will acquire vitamins, nutritional supplements, etc. from the Omnilife line.

Her dream is to earn a trip to México by saving her sales earnings until she has sold the most products.

The 21 year old works in a stationary store but only for personal expenses.

She is in a new relationship and has a son who is now 11 years old. Her husband works as a mason and at the moment they do not have their own home, they lease. This is her first loan with Fundacíon, she was invited by her neighbor to join the group of fighting women. She sells products from Natural’s Garden and with the money that she receives from the loan she will buy vitamins and nutritional supplements to maintain an assorted stock for her customers. Her goal is to better herself through her business and to continue growing it a little more each day.
