Jose Francisco's story

Josè Francisco T. A. is 44 years old, is married and has 5 children. He lives in the Guaranda subdivision in the Bolivar province.

Josè is a member of the solidarity group "Grupo Enmanuel" which is located 45 minutes from the Guaranda subdivision, capital of the Bolivar province. The solidarity group has a total of 17 members and the community revolves around agriculture and livestock. The members are indigenous and all speak Quechua. Josè works in farming to increase his family's income. The crops that do best are corn, wheat, potatoes, blackberries and lima beans. He also raises pigs and sheep.

Josè sells his products at the wholesale market in Guaranda every six months. The principal culture is the carnival that is celebrated in February. Josè enjoys walking.

Josè is requesting this loan to purchase supplies for his work especially fertilizers and manures. His goal is to have a good economic activity for his family. The challenges that he faces are problems with the weather and the diseases that affect his crops.
