A loan of $700 helped to buy sound systems, washing machines and television sets.

Jaír Javier's story

Jair Javier V. Beltrán lives in Barranquilla’s very cheerful Simón Bolívar neighborhood. He is a home appliance merchant. He sells such items as: washing machines, sound systems and television sets. He has been in this line of work for 15 years. He started 10 years ago, when he was 20 years old, helping his mother sell; it was she who sent him to the Fundación.

This is his third loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo and he is asking for $1.300.000 to buy sound systems, washing machines and television sets that he has pending orders for.

Jair travels monthly to Maicao, a city on the border with Venezuela, to bring appliances that produce good profits for his business; he knows this market very well. He also has an uncle that lives in Aguachica, Cesar department, to whom he sends appliances on consignment. Jair travels to this city once a month to collect earnings from his sales.

The profits he has earned through loans from the Fundación have helped him to support his home where he lives with his parents and grandmother. His mother has a business and his father works as a welder repairing aluminum trash bins for a milk bottling plant.

Jair’s dream is that his business expands into other municipalities through his consignment system. He also has as a goal to have his own home.

Jair loves football and is an avid Juniorista (fan of Junior, Barranquilla’s team).
