Capullo De Rosa Group's story

Ana Q. is treasuer of focal center Villa Adela's "Capullo de Rosa" (Rosebud) communal bank. She is 42 years old, married and has 6 children. She has had 7 loan cycles as a member of the association.

She sells sheets and stockings at wholesale. When asked how she began her business, she smiled and stated that it was due to "need." Several years ago, when she and her husband moved to Santa Cruz, they didn't have money enough left to eat; they had to learn how to sell. Now, she and her husband continue to work together. They sell in La Ceja in El Alto and on Tumusla street in La Paz.

"Capullo de Rosa" is an association belonging to the Villa Alta focal center. It has 13 members, who are involved in a variety of commercial activities: neighborhood store, cosmetics sales, sale of a loom, sash making, clothing sales, detergents, underwear and sheets, potato and dehydrated potato, novelty seasonal items (for example, if it's Christmas, it's toy sales), room and board, Tucumanas (minced meat or chicken turnovers).
