A loan of $2,725 helped a member to buy medicines.

Armonia Group's story

The “Armonía” (Harmony) bank is composed of 11 members: 9 women and 2 men; they are represented by Gertrudis Susana.

Gertrudis Susana is married and has three, school-aged children; her husband works in a paper factory and she sells medicines. They live in a rented house because her husband must leave for work extremely early. Gertrudis Susana owns a lot in the city’s outskirts that she would like to build her house on in order to have her own home and proviD. her children with a better quality of life.

She is asking for funds to buy a variety of medicines to stock her small pharmacy because of the cold wave and the approaching season; she needs working capital to purchase stock inventory items.

The rest of the members participate in a variety of commercial activities, like: public transportation services, plastic sales, cosmetics sales, school supplies sales, caretaking services, and grocery and pastry sales.

The funds will be used to buy raw materials, that is, working capital for the different activities they realize, such as plastic sales, cosmetics sales, school supplies, caretaking services, general grocery items and ingredients for pastries and prepared meals. One group member monitors the departures and arrivals of small buses, while another is a taxi driver and another works at a karaoke bar. All the group members have experience working with group loans at other financial institutions, so they understand the technology. Now that they are working with Agrocapital, they trust the institution because of the economic support it offers them so that they can continue to work and grow with their respective activities and improve their quality of life.
