A loan of $550 helped purchase of seed, fertilizer, insecticide.

Julia's story

Julia, 53, is a simple woman who has worked hard most of her life to stand out. She lives in her own home with her husband Antonio, 59, her life-long companion, and what they want the most is a tranquil old age. The farmlands they have cultivated with so much hard work have provided the income necessary to maintain their family. She grows carrots, potatoes, and gladiolas (flowers), which then, with her husband's help, she takes to sell in the main market of the city of Tarma, which is where she can get the best prices for her produce. What she enjoys the most about her work is planting seeds in the land, which she does with great patience. She has been doing this for 29 years, and the hardest part is guarding her crops from the pests that can afflict them. In the future she hopes to increase her lands so she can grow more. This is the eighth loan Julia has had through MFP, she has repaid her previous loans very punctually and intends to do so this time. As a member of her communal bank, she is very committed to the development of her group. With the $550 she is requesting, she will purchase additional pea seeds as well as fertilizer and insecticides.
