Hortênsia Dos Anjos Salomão's story

Hortênsia Dos Anjos Salomão M. was born in the city of Maputo in the province of the same name, in southern Mozambique. She is 41 years old, married, and the mother of two children, 20 and 10 years of age. Both children attend school. She only completed eight years of school, and wasn't able to continue because of her family's difficult financial circumstances. She lives in her own home with her family. She helps support her mother by helping with food expenses.

She's never been out of the city or her Chamanculo neighborhood, except to leave Maputo for Matola in order to marry her husband. She still lives in Maputo today. She has worked for the Darling company, which manufactures artificial hair, for more than 4 years, and works almost 9 hours a day. She doesn't have any employees. Sometimes she's had help from her husband, who works as a self-employed bricklayer. She earns 2500 meticals a month, which she uses for household expenses, and she's also able to set some aside at home to cover unexpected expenses that might arise. Sometimes she also deposits some savings in the Millenium Bim Bank.

She's never received loans from other banks. She learned about Hvuluku from friends who are also Hvuluku clients. This is her second loan, in the amount of 10,000 meticals, which she intends to use to purchase construction materials (sewage pipes, cement, sand, etc.) to finish work on her house. She also used the previous loan of 7,000 meticals for this purpose.

In the future, she'd like to request additional loans to finish constructing and furnishing the house, so she can offer her family a more comfortable home.
