Pascal's story

Pascal is a patient husband, father and entrepreneur. Pascal is also a refugee. Originally from Burundi, Pascal and his family fled violence and persecution and sought safety in Rwanda. When Pascal first arrived in Rwanda, his retail shop was small so that he could be ready at a moment's notice when it was safe to go back home.

Now, Pascal realizes that the situation in Burundi is still unstable and he needs to start planning for the long term. Pascal has a unique opportunity to acquire the space next door to his current shoe business which is a restaurant. Pascal is requesting another loan to leverage this opportunity and expand his business into two revenue streams. He plans to spend half of the loan on shoe inventory, and the other half to purchase some kitchen equipment for the restaurant.

As an urban refugee, Pascal and his family do not receive financial support to live. Therefore, he relies exclusively on the income from his business. His five children are growing and need more and more money each year for school expenses. Pascal is excited to see his business grow, but he needs some help to do so.

This loan is special because:

It helps refugees launch businesses to rebuild their lives.
