A loan of $200 helped to buy corn.

Maria Ismelda's story

María Ismelda B. V. is a farmer and merchant in the rural zone of Pueblo Nuevo.

She is asking Ceprodel for funds to buy corn to store and then sell in Summer when prices are higher and the grain is scarcer.

The business began when María B. began to buy small amounts of grain during harvest time and then sell it during times of shortage; each time she bought more grain and has been doing this work for about 15 years now. It is worth noting that in the years prior to this she was in secondary school.

She hopes that by buying and storing these grains she will be able to sell them for a better price at a time when the grain is scarce. This will generate better profits and thus better family income; she hopes that her business will grow more each time.

This is her 8th loan with Ceprodel in a period of 5 years. These loans have been beneficial to her because she has been able to care for her crops and insure a good harvest for the support of her family.
