Mbande Group's story

Agness Mathew, age 35, is married and has four children ages 13, 11, 8, and 6. She has been selling rice and wheat flour at wholesale prices, for two years now. She opens her shop from 7 am to 6 pm daily and has been able to make a monthly profit of around US$ 150.

This will be Agnes’s 1st 'motisha' loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She hopes to obtain a loan to increase her inventory of rice and wheat flour.

Agness will share this loan with her loan group, which totals 9 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable in paying back the loan. In the picture, Agness is 3rd from left.
