A loan of $300 helped purchase ingredients (corn, flour, sugar, lard, etc.).

María Cristina's story

María Cristina V. H. is a merchant from the municipality of Condega and makes a living baking and selling bread. She plans to use the loan to purchase ingredients such as flour and sugar to expand her business. She started baking bread in small quantities and while she was getting to know the trade she was growing her clientele until her business grew to where it is today. María started the business approximately 15 years ago, and she works Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Her son's wife helps her with the work daily. She hopes that with the loan she can increase her production to cover nearly her entire market. María is single and has two children who are still in school, which she pays for. This is her 10th loan over a period of seven years, and the loans have helped her successfully make headway with the business since the ingredients can get expensive. She is grateful for the support Kiva partner Ceprodel has given her.
