Myrzakmatova Gulnara's Group's story

Gulnara M. is 54 years old. She is a widow and a single mother. Her daughter is 20 years old and she is studying in medical school in her third year. Gulnara does animal husbandry and farming since 1994. At this time she has two heads of large cattle and eight heads of small cattle. She is asking for a loan to buy three sheep for feeding. She also has a plot of land where she grows corn and wheat. She spends most of her time preparing for the spring sowing season.

Nurgul is 34 years old. She has an only daughter who is seven years old, she is studying in the first grade at the local school. Nurgul's main source of income is farming. She grows rice and sunflowers. She will use the loan to prepare the soil for sowing specifically by buying diesel fuel and saltpeter for enrichment of the soil in her allotment. This year she plans to sow rice.

Roza is 42 years old. She is married and raising two sons. They both go to school. Her husband works as a construction worker in the Uzgen region. They grow rice as does most of the population of Uzgen. She owns more than 40 sotok (around 1 acre) of land. She will use the loan to buy seeds.

Kurmanbek is the only man in this solidarity group. He is married and raises four children, all of them are girls from four to thirteen years of age. His wife works in the village as a cleaner and also travels to Russia during seasonal months for work. His family does farming and mainly grow rice, sunflower and barley. This time he plans to sow rice on his 25 sotok ( 0.6 acres) and barley on the 70 sotok (1.7 acres). He will use the loan for the sowing. He plans to do animal husbandry in the future.
