A loan of $1,075 helped to buy pea seeds.

Marcela's story

Marcels, 38, is a cheerful, hard-working woman. She lives in her own house with her husband, Omar, 28; both are farmers and together want to provide a better life for their beloved son.

Together, she and her husband plant broad beans, corn, and gladioli that they then sell in the markets in Tarma and La Merced, which is where they get the best prices.

What she likes best about her work is caring for her crops so that they will be safe from pests; she has been a farmer for 18 years. She considers the most difficult part of the job having to carry her crops to the markets where she sells because the sacks are very heavy.

This is Marcela's 7th loan with MFP and she believes that the loan will be very helpful to her in her development as a farmer.

She is a very participatory and supportive member of her communal bank.

She will use the 3000 new soles requested to buy 5 sacks of pea seed; she will invest the entire loan in this purchase because each sack costs 600 new soles.
