A loan helped to buy doors for her house.

Ecaterina's story

Ecaterina is a 63-year-old pensioner from the village of Oniscani, Calarasi region, Moldova. She is married and her husband is retired the same. She has two children who are already married and have their own families. She is a happy grandmother of four grandchildren. They make her live happier.

Ecaterina has lived in the village all her life. As many Moldavian villagers, she has a small farm at home. She raises poultry for family consumption. To feed the poultry, she grows corn. Additionally, she processes 0.30 ha [hectare] of vineyard.

The home, which was built together with her husband, needs some investment. Firstly, Ecaterina wants to change two doors. Her small retirement allowance does not offer the possibility to buy new doors, so she decided to ask for a loan from Kiva. As a result, she will be able to improve the living conditions and will ensure a warmer house in the cold season of the year.

This loan is special because:
