A loan helped to open a small type of restaurant for making traditional Georgian dishes for tourists.

Izeta's story

Izeta, who is a 56-year-old married woman, lives in Ushguli, one of the most famous places for tourists in Georgia. The tourism business has been developed significantly and Izeta is also involved in this type of activity.

She rents several rooms to tourists and gets seasonal income. However, she desires to expand the business and make an additional source of income. Izeta needs financial support to open a small type of restaurant, such as building the place, purchasing furniture and all needed products for the restaurant. Izeta has been approved for a loan within the framework of a joint initiative between Kiva and Credo. The start-up loan program provides business start-up loans with soft conditions to informal businesses that do not have access to credit products.

Izeta will make traditional Georgian dishes for local tourists on her own and suggest that they also stay in her guesthouse. She will also serve her guests. The loan will greatly assist Izeta and she will continue her tourism business advancement.

This loan is special because:

It helps vulnerable women start a new business.
