Doña Dunia is a hard working woman who is 41 years old. She has sold clothes, furniture and food for many years. She started this activity with money her husband gave her, product of his work as a mechanic. Together they have constructed a house made entirely of concrete. The profits from their sales help with costs like water, electricity and school fees for their two children. Still they have yet to construct a kitchen and it is for this that they need a loan to begin before winter. They will buy constuction materials like stone, sand, cement, wrought iron, wood, and metal roofing to begin the work which can be in better conditions. Their plans are to continue investing in their business to obtain better profit margins, to balance their sales.

About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
