A loan of $1,050 helped a member to purchase cereals and condiments.

Benkadi Group's story

The women of the group Benkadi are all married. On average, they are 35 years old and each have 3 children. They all live in traditional extended families in Zanfina, one of the towns in Fana, a county of Dioila, the second administrative region of Mali.

These women mostly buy and sell cereals/ grains, and food condiments. Having fully repaid their first loan, the women of the group Benkadi are requesting their second group loan, which they will use to purchase 3 tons of dried cereals (fonio (a millet-like grain), small millet, corn) and a large quantity of food condiments. They mostly supply themselves locally from farmers and then the women sell their products in the market, usually for cash, to a clientele composed of men and women.

They envision each earning an average monthly income of 15,000FCFA, which they will use to pay for the needs of their families and invest the remainder in their businesses.
