A loan helped to buy farming supplies, such as calcium, boron, zinc and other items to maintain his 1.05 hectares of coffee.

Filemón's story

Filemón is a 39-year-old farmer, with good principles and a great vision. When he was young, his parents taught him how to work the land and how to love it. His farm is 1.4 hectares by 1.05 hectares, filled with coffee. On the advice of the PAC technical team, he implements the FLO certification criteria.

He lives in a remote community in Nicaragua with his wife and two children. He has earned a living sowing and harvesting quality coffee for 6 years. Every year he has a new challenge to overcome and this one was no exception. For this cycle, Filemón's challenge is implementing a plan of nutritional improvement for his coffee trees, which will allow him to increase his family's financial income.

With the loan obtained, he will buy farming supplies and pay labour costs to maintain his 1.05 hectares of productive coffee. This is the fourth loan that he has arranged through PAC.

This loan is special because:

It allows farmers to plant trees needed to shade coffee plants.
