A loan helped to expand her business by buying more wigs and hair extensions in bulk in order to meet her customer demand.

Charity's story

Charity is a 24-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her sister in the Mungwi district of Zambia. Charity sells hair wigs and hair extensions. She is requesting a Kiva loan to expand her business by buying more wigs and hair extensions in bulk to meet her customer demand.

She plans to use the profit she earns to upgrade herself and pay school fees for her siblings. Charity will repay the "social interest" on her loan by volunteering three hours per week as a Camfed Business Mentor. As a mentor, she will lead sessions to teach less experienced local women how to become successful entrepreneurs by developing their business acumen, and share the lessons she learned from operating her business.

This loan is special because:

It is a 0% interest loan for young women with new businesses.
