A loan of $775 helped to buy vitamins and protein supplements.

Sandra Veronica's story

Sandra L. is a member of the Haciendo un Mejor Futuro (Building a Better Future) communal bank, which is made up of tenacious women who, because of their good humor and charisma, make us all feel like one big family during bank meetings. All of the members live in the city of Cuenca, capital of Azuay province. It is located in the southern part of the Ecuadorean Andes. It is Ecuador’s third most important city and it is characterized by maintaining the tranquility and beauty of an old city. Its historic city center was declared a Patrimony of Humanity by Unesco in 1999.

Sandra lives in Santa Anita, Turi parish with her 4-year-old son and her husband, who works in construction. Thanks to the joint effort of herself and her husband she is proud to have her own home.

She sells Herbalife products. Her working schedule is from 9am to 7pm. She has been in this line of work for 2 years and she does well because she has steady customers. She visits them throughout the community to gain a bigger market share; this is hard and demanding work in that she spends all day away from home and hardly spends any time with her little boy.

She has been an active member of the communal bank for a year. With help from the Foundation she has been expanding her business. She will use the new loan to buy vitamins and Herbalife protein supplements so that her business will continue to grow. Her goal is to finish her house since it still lacks some finishing touches.
