They are: Reyna , Angelita, Soila, Rosalina, Zarina, Maira, Adelfa, Lucia, Yolanda, Bernabe, Alejandra and Elvia.

Reyna and Angelita sell beverages. Soila sells clothes. Rosalina sells Bimbo (bakery) products. Zarina and Maira sell fruits and vegetables. Adelfa and Lucia sell food. Yolanda makes comales (flat earthen ware pan for cooking tortillas). Bernabé is a butcher, Alejandra is a baker and Elvia is a grocer.

Maira Z. G., 21, is the group representative. She is in a common-law union and knows how to read and write. She went to junior high school but did not complete it. She has three daughters, who are 6, 4, and 2 years of age. She has a fruit and vegetable stand in her home since she lives downtown. She uses her profits to supply herself with things but she wants to have funding to support her daughters.

She needs funds to buy certain other items like: dry cheese and products because she has noticed that these items sell well and that would provide her with good profits so that she will have enough to better dress and support her daughters.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
