Madeline's Group's story

Madeline U. is from the town of Benito Soliven. She is 42 years old. Madeline is the leader of a 14-member loan group sponsored by ASKI. Although each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are collectively responsible for repaying the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Madeline is married and has 4 school-aged children. To make a living, Madeline sells rice in the local community. Madeline has been engaged in her business for over 6 years and earns approximately 18,000 PHP a month from these activities.

In 2009, Madeline joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Madeline has successfully repaid a previous loan of 8,000 PHP from ASKI. Madeline is requesting a new loan of 12000 PHP to purchase additional products to sell. This will be Madeline's third loan from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to pay for her children's tuition.
