A loan helped to purchase more fresh and dried fish to sell.

Joezel's story

Meet 30-year-old Joezel from Liberia. She is married with four children. She attended school up to tenth grade. She runs a business that sells fresh and dried fish. She has been selling for the past eight years, and works 12 hours per day, 6 days per week. She has had no problems with her business.

Joezel requested this loan from BRAC to purchase more fresh and dried fish to sell to increase her business. She says that the extra income from this loan will help improve her standard of living. She is proud of her business because she makes her own money through the business. She learned the trade from her sister, and started selling with some financial help from her husband. In the future, she would like to increase her business. She says thanks and gives appreciation to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
