A loan of $1,025 helped purchase of replacement parts for computers.

Elvira's story

Elvira is a woman who radiates happiness. She is 37 and is married to the father of her 3 children. At the moment they live with her husband's parents and operate their business from that house as well. However, they have already bought land for themselves, on which they plan to build in the future.

Elvira has worked as a secretary in her town's municipal government for 19 years. Along with her husband, however, she also runs a bookstore with internet access booths. Edwin (her husband) runs the business and she helps on the weekends. They've had the bookstore for almost 10 years and the internet access booths for 8 years, and both sides of the business do well. Elvira's husband enjoys working in sales and he is very creative. For this reason he also works as a graphic designer for various stores, using his earnings to expand his and Elvira's business. Elvira supports her husband in all these efforts, with the hope of having their own home soon.

This is Elvira's fifth loan with MFP [the Kiva field partner], and she promises to be responsible with her repayments. She also mentions that she has found it satisfying to work with the other members of her Communal Bank. With the money from the current loan she will buy a glass shop window and replacement parts for computers, in order to increase the income from their business.
