A loan of $775 helped purchase soft drinks, dairy products, sweets, and snacks.

Adalgiza Maria's story

Adalgiza María Márquez G. is 35 years old and lives in Cundinamarca with her husband and two children, ages 5 and 13. She sells provisions, food, beverages, and all the necessities that housewives look for when they come by to shop. Since her business is located in a highly populated residential sector, she has an easier time of turning over the merchandise that she sells.

Adalgiza started her business one year ago with the help of her family. It has gradually increased, but often there is not enough money to take advantage of discounted deals. Her products sell rapidly but there is not enough capital to restock because of the increase in prices. For this reason, she has come to Fundación Mario Santo Domingo to access her first loan in the amount of 1,500,000 COP to purchase soft drinks, dairy products, sweets, and snacks. With this infusion of operating capital, she hopes to increase her earnings and fulfill her dream of succeeding in her business. Adalgiza continues to grow each day and becomes more disciplined in her capacity to work. One day she hopes to open a self-service store.
