A loan helped facilitate the purchase of coffee equipment and product for a Pop Up Coffee Bar in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

David's story

I was born in Colombia, South America to a Canadian mother and an American father. We settled in Baton Rouge, LA when I was one year of age so my father could finish his PhD at Louisiana State University. It was there that I grew up and lived until moving to New Orleans, LA in 2017.

Both parents were a blend of creativity and logic; my predominant parent, my mother, was a massage therapist and is highly creative and free spirited. My father, a scientist, is a logical yet brilliant man, capable of incredible kindness and unique sensibility. The mix of parenting styles created a highly active and entrepreneurial young man always searching for answers and refining the results.

I see myself as a specialist in the hospitality industry, and after working for close to 20 years in that field, am ready for ownership and the creative control to establish a brand and that provokes higher ideals and an uncompromising product. To facilitate this, I started two businesses - Coffee Upside Down and Lightning Lawncare. I have been able to pare down my "day job" as a server in New Orleans to allow for my time invested in my passion projects, yielding fast and rewarding results. In under 6 months, I have completed over 200 jobs with Lightning Lawncare, cementing my ability to forge and maintain healthy client relationships. With Coffee Upside Down, New Orleans now knows me as the fun-loving and though-provoking coffee professional, with the best air-roasted coffee around.

It's all going UP from here!
