A loan helped to purchase more slippers to sell.

Mamie's story

Meet 38-year-old Mamie from Liberia. She is married with five children. She never had the opportunity to attend school. She runs a business, which sells slippers.

Mamie has been in this business for the past six years and works 14 hours per day, six days a week. She has had no problem with her business. She has requested this loan from BRAC Liberia to purchase more slippers to sell and increase her business. She says the extra income from this loan will help improve her family's standard of living.

In the future, she wants to continue sending her children to school and build a house. She says thanks and extends her appreciation to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
