Joséphine's story

Joséphine H. was born in 1978 in Cotonou, the economic capital of Bénin. Married to Mathieu TOVO, a fisherman, Joséphine has three children who are all at school. The family lives together in the Agbato district of Cotonou and the couple cover the household expenses between them. Joséphine has never been to school. Ten years ago she started selling fabric and clothes for both women and men. She gets her supplies in Dantokpa, Bénin's international market. Joséphine sells her products through the distribution system. She has already had two loans from ALIDé which she repaid without incident. She is applying for another loan from ALIDé in order to strengthen her business and better satisfy her customers.
