Palmeras Group's story

The German Busch Community Center can be found in the District of Huayna Potosí in the City of El Alto. Among the groups that meets at the Center is the Communal Association “Palmeras” (Palms).

The Palmeras Communal Association is starting its second loan cycle with nine members, eight women and one man. They meet at 10:30am every Friday. When talking about the businesses of the members, they consist of a variety of different activities: quilt sales, fruit sales, preparing food, ice cream sales, DVD sales, sewing sweatshirts, and tourism.

One of the younger members is Paola Andrea T. F.. She is 20 years old, married, and has a one year old child. For the past year, she has been selling DVDs as a traveling vendor through the different fairs in the City of El Alto. She started with very little and did not have anyone to mentor her. Paola is now requesting a loan of 800 BOB with which she plans to buy more merchandise.
