Leonida's story

Leonida L. K. is 55 years old and married to a farmer. They have six children who are between the ages 25 and six years old. Her business is located at Khayega, a busy market in Kakamega, where for the last five years she has made a living selling tomatoes, onions and other vegetables as well as maize and beans. She says that this business is profitable, with the major challenge being that there are many people who offer similar products for sale. But she works very hard to keep her business doing well, and has applied for a loan of Kes 30,000 to buy more tomatoes, onions and vegetables to sell. She hopes to buy her own farm some day because she is a very hardworking and visionary lady.
