Jane's Group's story

Jane B. is from the village of Alimannao, Penablanca, Cagayan. She is 28 years old. Jane is the group leader of a 6-member group loan offered by ASKI. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are all collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.

Jane is married and has 2 very young children. To make a living, Jane works in a family member's business venture in the food sector making & selling food. The main source of income for the business comes from preparing and selling cooked food for daily meals. Jane has been engaged in her business for over 2 years and earns approximately 1,800 PHP a month for these activities.

In 2009, Jane joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Jane has successfully repaid a previous loan of 10,000 PHP from ASKI. Jane is requesting a new loan of 10,000 PHP which will be used to purchase additional inventory and as working capital. This will be the third loan taken out by Jane from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to financially support immediate members of her family.
