A loan of $1,700 helped a member to hire laborers to plow her field.


Mrs. Phalla Phen Village Bank Group's story

Twelve people who all live in Melong Khang Cheung village in the Takeo province make up this village bank loan. All the members will use the loan for different purposes.

Mrs. Phalla P. is a farmer who owns 1.4 hectares on which she cultivates rice to earn a living. On this farm, she now faces a small problem because she needs to plow the field; thus, she decided to ask for a loan to hire laborers to plow her field.

Her husband, Mr. Kheiv Sameourn, is a construction worker. Mrs. Phalla P. is 29 and the mother of two children who are both attending the local school.

Mrs. Ing Rotha, who is a group guarantor, is also presented in the picture with her village bank members.
