HUANCAYO, Peru / Restaurant

A loan of $200 helped buying beverages and new pots for her restaurant.

Mariela's story

Mariela is 36 years old and lives in her own house with her husband Willy (age 39), who is a merchant, and their three children; Angelie (age 13), Kimberly (age 10), and Christian (age 8).

As her children grew up she began to want to start working in order to help her husband with the many household expenses. She thought about a small store, but realized there would be too much competition in the area. Then her mother gave her the idea of starting a small restaurant and offered to help her in the kitchen. Now its been four years since she started this business which is going very well and both of them enjoy. They have acquired many loyal customers.

Mariela enjoys cooking very much and in addition to her mother she has another woman who helps with the restaurant. The restaurant is open seven days a work; starting very early in the morning they serve breakfast, in the afternoon, lunch, and at night they finish the evening serving dinner. Being a very hard working woman, in the future Mariela would like to expand her business to accommodate a larger number of diners.

This will be her fifth loan with MFP and she is grateful to all of the people who have made it possible for her to receive loans to continue her business. With the money from this loan she will buy sodas to offer at her business and new pots to cook with since hers have deteriorated.
