Tamuyu Group's story

Here are members of the 'Tamuyu' group from the township of Magburaka in northern Sierra Leone. They are petty businesspeople who have come together to seek a loan of SLL 500,000 for each person in order to expand their businesses.

The leader of the group is Fatmata K.. She is 30 years old, married to a businessman, and they have 3 children – 1 in primary school and 2 who are not of school-going age. For 5 years now, Fatmata has been a businesswoman; she sells clothes, shoes, and bras. With her share of this loan, she will buy the above mentioned items wholesale and retail them in Magburaka town.
