A loan of $700 helped buy school uniforms and backpacks.

Karina's story

Karina belongs to the Sol de Oro Communal Bank with the Arariwa Association. She is 23 years old and single. She is currently studying the professional career of tourism in Antonio Lorena, an institute for higher learning in Cusco. She is in her fourth semester. She is a hard-working and enterprising young woman who is getting ahead in her professional career.

Karina tells us that on Mondays she travels to Peru’s border with Bolivia to get merchandise like jackets, sweaters, and pants. Later, she sells them on Tuesday through Saturday in a commercial center on Trinitarias street. Karina needs the loan to buy school uniforms and backpacks for the approaching school season. She has participated in communal banks with the Arariwa Association for several cycles.

Maria is grateful for the opportunity of the loan, and she promises to pay it on time. (Karina is in the photograph with her sweetheart.)
