A loan of $1,200 helped a member buying pasture for cattle.

Sicalvenses Group's story

This is a group of 6 people who raise cattle for a living. They live about 20 kilometers outside the city of Momostenango, Totonicapán. Currently they have a lot of cattle, but they need more capital to buy pasture. The members have organized themselves as a group because together they can obtain a loan that will allow them to have higher quality livestock that they can sell to locals. This way they will be able to sell their cattle with greater frequency. Currently, they have a six months sales rotation with their capital, which is also used for other trades like making clothing.

They will not have problems with the repayment responsibilities. They have spent about 13 years raising animals. With the financing they will get through Kiva, they can receive greater revenues, which will allow them to help develop the community where they live.

In this group: María , Martin , Agustin , Abelino , Timoteo , Rafael
