Nelybeth Pao Group's story

Nelybeth P. is from the village of Salimpuno, Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental. She is 25 years old. Nelybeth is the group leader of a 3-member group loan offered by PMPC. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are all collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. The official name of this borrowing group is Nelybeth P. Group. Nelybeth is married and has 1 school-aged child. To make a living, Nelybeth is engaged in farming cassava. Nelybeth has been engaged in her business for over 3 years and earns approximately 3,000 PHP a month for these activities.

In 2007, Nelybeth joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and to have the ability to engage in business activities. Nelybeth has successfully repaid a previous loan of 5,000 PHP from PMPC. This previous loan was used to purchase raw ingredients needed for her cassava plantation. Nelybeth is requesting a new loan of 14,900 PHP, which will be used to finance her cassava plantation. This will be the 4th loan taken out by Nelybeth from PMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
