Marilyn's Group's story

Marilyn A. is from the town of Sta. Maria Echague. She is 45 years old. Marilyn is the leader of a 15-member loan group sponsored by GDMPC. Although each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are collectively responsible for repaying the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Marilyn is married and has 4 school-aged children. To make a living, Marilyn owns and operates a general store where she sells a variety of different products in the local community. Marilyn has been engaged in her business for over 10 years and earns approximately 4000 PHP a month from these activities.

In 2008, Marilyn joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Marilyn has successfully repaid a previous loan of 12000 PHP from ASKI. This previous loan was used to purchase additional products to sell. Marilyn is requesting a new loan of 14000 PHP to purchase additional products to sell. This will be Marilyn's 6th loan from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her business.
