A loan of $450 helped to buy a solar panel.

Rosa Elina's story

Rosa Elina T. A. is from the Buenos Aires area in the north part of Estelí. She is a farmer but also has a small grocery store. She was given funding to buy a solar panel because there is no electricity in her place so a solar panel will be of great usefulness fo her.

Rosa has always farmed basic grains with her husband and has improved their earnings thanks to the efforts of the entire family. She hopes that the solar panel will be of much use because she won't have to provide light with candles or lamps any longer; besides, she now will have the opportunity to install a television set and watch the news.

Her farm measures approximately 40 manzanas (a traditional Central American land measure), 7 of which are used for farming. She also has a small herd of cattle that also produces some income through the sale of calves and dairy products.

Rosa Elina is married and has 4 adult children; they help her out when she needs them.

This is her second loan with CEPRODEL in a period of two years; she states that she wants to continue working because the loans that she has had have helped to grow and improve her family's living standard.
