A loan of $200 helped buy fertilizer.

Teofila's story

Teófila, age 32, is a woman who has always worked hard to give her family a better life. She lives in her mother’s house with her two children. Jason is 9, and Daina is 5. They are the reason for all of her efforts. When she was 20, with her parents support, she bought some land where she could plant and help the family economically. She currently continues working this land, but now her dear children help her. With the land they get what they need to give the children a good education and to see to their health. What she likes best about her work is the close relationship she has with the earth. Also, she really enjoys seeing her plants grow. She has been doing this for 12 years. The most difficult part is taking care of the fields and protecting them from bad weather. Any oversight could affect the harvest. In the future she hopes that the prices for vegetables in the market rise. If they do not, her work capital will be affected. This is her first loan with MFP. She is very excited to get it because she urgently needs it to improve her business. She is a well liked member of her communal bank. She always keeps the meetings in order.
