José Miguel's story

José Miguel Guzmán C. is 21, single, and does not have children. He lives in the San Miguel district in the Bolívar province.

He is a member of the Calzado Solidario Communal Bank. It meets in an area that is 15 minutes from the San Miguel district on the way to the coast. There are a total of 19 members in the group, which is composed mainly of farmers and livestock breeders.

José works as a farmer in order to improve his family’s financial situation. He grows corn, potatoes, and a small amount of vegetables. His products are sold at the San Miguel Fair.

The main cultural event is Carnival, which is celebrated every year during the month of February.

José is requesting a loan to buy supplies for his field work and seeds for his vegetable crops. His goal is to generate good economic activity that will support his family. The main challenges that he faces are climate problems and diseases that impact his crops.
