Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Sabina's story

Señora Sabina, a member of the communal bank “San Juan de Dios” for 8 months, is from the district and province of Lampa, Puno department. She is 35, living with her spouse and 4 children. She has completed her secondary education, her business is selling woven handicrafts. Sabina tells us that with her first loan of $75 from Movimiento Manuela Ramos, she was able to increase her working capital. With this loan of $75 she will be able to purchase wool, fabrics, etc. Her dream for the future is to enlarge her business and increase her profits. The thing she likes best about her communal bank is that it is all organized by the members.
