Milton's story

Milton C. V. is 34 years old, married, and has two children. He lives in the District of San Miguel, which lies in the Province of Bolívar. Milton is a member of the Communal Bank “Calzado Solidario”, which meets in an enclosed area 15 minutes away from the District of San Miguel along the coast. There are a total of 19 members in the group, which is composed mainly of farmers and livestock breeders.

Milton works as a farmer in order to improve his family’s financial situation. He grows corn and potatoes and also raises poultry. His products are sold at the San Miguel Fair and from his home. Milton also works as a professional chauffeur.

The main cultural event is Carnival, which is celebrated every year during the month of February. Milton also enjoys taking care of his animals. He is requesting a loan in order to buy supplies for his farm. His goal is to generate good economic activity that will support his family. The main challenges that he faces are climate problems and diseases that impact his crops.
